JOHN LIPSCOMBE - From the age of six I was obsessed with piano playing. I’d listen to the radio then try and play what I’d heard on the keys. As a professional musician I travelled the world playing everything from the Great American Songbook, to light classical, jazz standards and pop. And that’s where I met Melody, proposing to her after dating for three weeks. (She said yes!) Back in the UK I worked for the BBC and was an award winning sound producer and radio presenter. Living in the Lake District also allowed me time to explore my passion for photography. After twenty three years I decided to look for new challenges and am now a VoiceOver artiste, mostly for the States and a professional artist, painting local scenes and drawing on the photographic narrative from my time living abroad. The two jobs coexist well, one leaving time for the other.
MELODY LIPSCOMBE - I was destined to be a dancer starting classes from the age of three! It was a whole way of life through my teenage years. I got a place at Italia Conti Stage School and after that took contracts all over the world. And that’s where I met John and he asked me to marry him. He says he got down on one knee. We were on a rocking cruise ship, I think he fell over. (I said yes!)
On our return to the UK I got into fitness and have taught every high and low impact class along the way. These days I mainly teach Pilates, but what keeps me buzzing all day and awake all night is my love for Stained glass art making. I love the colours and find the process of making the pieces very therapeutic. Whilst making one piece in my head I’m usually planning another six !
